Obverse description Central field depicts a crowned royal coat of arms featuring the characteristic pallets of Aragon, surmounted by a crested great helm adorned with a dragon crest issuing from above. The shield is presented in a bowed or curved form typical of late medieval Valencian coinage. A Latin legend encircles the design along the outer border, reading ALFONSUS REX, identifying the issuer as King Alfonso. The die work is characteristic of Gothic hammered craftsmanship of the Crown of Aragon.
