| Obverse description | Central field depicts an elaborate funerary monument or obelisk surmounted by a radiant sun, with a draped oval portrait bust of Duke Wilhelm IV set into the shaft of the monument, inscribed WILHELMUS IV on the plinth below. Two large scrolling banners flank the obelisk, bearing inscribed dates and memorial text in Latin. A stepped base with additional funerary inscription occupies the lower portion of the field. The peripheral legend runs along the inner border of the beaded rim, recording the Duke's full titles and the date 1662. |
