Anhalt-Bernburg was a tiny principality with no military ambitions of its own, but the Seven Years' War forced its hand fiscally. The conflict created chronic silver shortages across the German states as rulers melted reserves and debased coinage to fund contributions — whether willing or extorted — to the major belligerents moving troops through their territories. Victor II Frederick struck this fractional issue across 1758 and 1759 precisely when Prussian and Austrian demands on Anhalt resources were at their most acute.
Mann#631b distinguishes a die variant within this type. Worth noting for specialists working the series.
