Obverse description Armoured, draped bust of Rudolf II facing right, wearing a ruffled collar, set within an inner circle of pearls beneath the circumferential legend. Behind the neck, the Hungarian fourfold coat of arms is depicted in mirror orientation, quartering the Double Cross, the Árpád stripes, the Bohemian lion, and the Dalmatian leopard heads, with the Austrian bond as an escutcheon on the breast. To the right of the bust, a mirrored image of the Madonna and Child on a crescent, the Child held in her left arm. The effigy and heraldic elements are rendered in the detailed, late Renaissance style characteristic of Habsburg coinage.
