Obverse description Right-facing armored bust of Emperor Rudolf II occupying the majority of the coin's field, depicted in three-quarter length wearing a ruffled collar and elaborately engraved armor with a pauldron visible on the left shoulder. A small crowned shield appears to the right of the bust. The portrait is rendered in the mannered late-Renaissance style characteristic of Habsburg coinage of the period. The surrounding Latin legend reads RVDOLPHVS · II · D · G · RO · I · S · AV · G · H · BO · REX, separated from the central design by a plain inner border.

Reverse description Crowned double-headed imperial eagle displayed in the center of the field, with wings spread and each head facing outward, bearing a complex quartered shield on its breast depicting the arms of Austria, Hungary, Burgundy, and other Habsburg territories. The imperial orb and scepter are visible in the eagle's talons. The date 1581 appears at the top of the field flanking the crown, with the mintmaster's initials H·S positioned in the lower legend. The encircling Latin legend ARCHI · DVX · AVS · DVX · BVRG · MARC · MORA reads continuously around the periphery within a beaded border.
