| Obverse description | Central field depicts the enthroned Virgin Mary, nimbed and wearing episcopal vestments, holding the Christ Child on her left arm; the Child holds an orb in his right hand. Below the Virgin, a large heraldic shield displays the arms of the Archbishopric of Salzburg — a rampant lion — impaled with the personal arms of Archbishop Paris von Lodron, flanked by elaborate strapwork ornaments.
