Obverse description Crowned oval baroque cartouche bearing the quartered arms of Bavaria and the Palatinate, with a central shield depicting the imperial orb. The elaborate frame is adorned in baroque style, with the collar of the Order of the Golden Fleece encircling the shield. The date 1640 is divided at upper left and right of the crown, and the fractional value (1/3) appears within an oval tablet at the base of the design. The peripheral legend names the elector in abbreviated Latin.
