Obverse description On a square klippe flan, a single-headed eagle displayed facing left, bearing on its breast a composite Hungarian-Austrian shield divided into the Árpád dynastic stripes and the Austrian fess. Between the eagle's legs, the arms of Nagyszeben (Hermannstadt) serve as a mint mark, flanking the last two digits of the mint year (5–2). Above the eagle's head, the abbreviated legend · F · R · V · (Ferdinandus Rex Ungariae) is inscribed in the field.
