| Obverse description | Draped bust of Margrave John Frederick facing right, with long flowing wig in the baroque fashion, set within a plain inner oval border. A small denomination numeral VI in an ornate cartouche appears at lower left in the field. Two small stars are visible at the base of the bust. The circumferential Latin legend reads IOH:FR:DG·M·BRAND:MAG: (Johann Friedrich, by the Grace of God, Margrave of Brandenburg), and the coin is bordered by a fine beaded rim. |

The escutcheon displays multiple heraldic charges including the Brandenburg eagle, the Swabian lion, and other territorial arms across multiple quarters. The surrounding Latin legend, divided by the shield, reads ·PR·HALB·M·C·16 78·PR·D·B·NOR· (Prince of Halberstadt, Margrave of Crossen, 1678, Prince of Duchy of Brandenburg, Nürnberg), with the date split to either side of the crown at top. The whole is enclosed within a beaded border. |
