| Obverse description | Draped and armored bust of Duke John Adolphus facing right, wearing a long flowing wig with elaborate curls rendered in high relief, typical of late 17th-century Baroque portraiture. The armor is richly detailed with decorative studs and an ornate mantle draped over the shoulder. The Latin legend encircles the effigy along the periphery, separated from the inner field by a beaded border. |
