Obverse description Draped and armored bust of Duke John Adolphus facing right, wearing a long flowing wig with elaborate curls rendered in high relief, typical of late 17th-century Baroque portraiture. The armor is richly detailed with decorative studs and an ornate mantle draped over the shoulder. The Latin legend encircles the effigy along the periphery, separated from the inner field by a beaded border.

Reverse description Large bold fraction '2/3' occupying the central field, denoting the two-thirds Thaler denomination, rendered in prominent raised numerals with an elegant diagonal fraction bar. The date 1690 and the motto legend CEDVNT PREMENTI FATA ('Fate yields to him who perseveres') encircle the value in the outer legend, separated from the central device by a raised inner ring. A small six-pointed rosette ornament serves as a stop within the legend. The edge shows reeding consistent with milled coinage of the period.
