| Obverse description | Bare-headed right-facing effigy of King Johann of Saxony occupies the central field, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair swept back behind the ear. The portrait is executed in a naturalistic Neoclassical style characteristic of mid-19th-century German coinage. A continuous circular legend reading IOHANN V.G.G. KOENIG VON SACHSEN surrounds the bust, separated from the toothed border by a inner beaded rim. The mintmaster's initial F appears below the truncation at the base of the portrait. |
