Obverse description Central quartered coat of arms of the Archbishopric of Salzburg, featuring the ecclesiastical arms of Johann Ernst von Thun, surmounted by a mitre and flanked on either side by two elaborate tasselled cardinal's hat cords (galero). The shield displays the traditional Salzburg checky pattern alongside the personal arms of the Thun family. The entire heraldic composition is rendered in high relief typical of late 17th-century German ecclesiastical coinage. The circular legend surrounds the shield along the rim.
