Obverse description Central ornate shield bearing the combined arms of Salzburg and Austria in the upper portion, with the personal arms of Archbishop Johann Ernst von Thun occupying the lower portion, surmounted by an archiepiscopal hat with tassels. The heraldic composition is rendered in elaborate baroque style characteristic of late 17th-century ecclesiastical coinage. A circular legend, commencing at approximately 2 o'clock, reads the full Latin titulature of the Archbishop as Primate of Salzburg and Apostolic Legate.
