Obverse description A rampant lion stands at right, facing left, supporting the oval arms of Zürich — a diagonally divided shield — draped upon a decorative mantle. The lion holds a sword upright in its right paw. The circular legend surrounds the central device, reading from lower left through the upper field. The design is executed in high relief with finely detailed engraving characteristic of late 18th-century Swiss civic coinage.
