Obverse description Draped bust of King George III facing right, with flowing hair tied at the back in the fashion of the period. A circular Latin legend runs along the periphery reading GEORG III D G M BRIT FR ET HIR REX F D. Engraver's initials I.W.S. appear in the lower field beneath the truncation. The portrait is rendered in a bold relief characteristic of late 18th-century German coinage, within a fine milled border.
