| Obverse description | Central field displays the quartered royal coat of arms of Great Britain surmounted by a large crown, the four quarters bearing the arms of England (three passant guardant lions), Scotland (rampant lion), France (three fleurs-de-lis), and Ireland (harp), with the Hanoverian white horse in the fourth quarter. Below the shield, the denomination expressed as a circled fraction '1/6' flanks the inscription FEIN SILB: (Fine Silver). The surrounding peripheral legend, separated by the date, reads GEORG·II·D·G·M·BR·FR·ET·HIB·REX·F·D· with the year (e.g. 1731) incorporated within the legend.
