Obverse description Armored bust of Frederick II (Frederick the Great) facing right, wearing elaborately decorated cuirass with ornamental shoulder piece and cravat, hair tied at the nape in the fashion of the period. The bold Latin legend encircles the effigy along the rim, reading from the lower left upward and around to the lower right. The portrait is rendered in the Baroque style typical of mid-18th century Prussian coinage, with considerable detail in the armor chasing and drapery.
