Obverse description Bare-headed right-facing bust of King Friedrich August II of Saxony occupies the central field, rendered in finely detailed high relief with naturalistic hair treatment. A beaded inner border frames the design. The circumferential legend reads FRIEDRICH AUGUST II. * KOENIG VON SACHSEN, with the death notice † D. 9. AUG. 1854 completing the inscription at the base, commemorating the king's passing on 9 August 1854. The portrait is engraved in the neoclassical style characteristic of mid-19th-century Saxon coinage.

Reverse description The central field displays a five-line commemorative German-language inscription in raised capital letters: ER SÆTE GERECHTIG= KEIT UND ERNTETE LIEBE HOS.X.12., a biblical quotation from Hosea 10:12 meaning 'He sowed righteousness and reaped love.' The inscription is framed on both sides by finely engraved crossed laurel and palm branches tied at the base, forming an open wreath. A beaded border circles the entire reverse field.
