Reverse description A tall cypress tree, symbol of mourning, stands prominently at center rising from a low ground line. To either side of the cypress are pyramidal arrangements of hearts, representing the mourning hearts of the populace. The Latin motto QVOT FOLIA curves along the upper field, with TOT and CORDA placed in the mid-field to the left and right of the cypress respectively, forming the complete phrase QVOT FOLIA TOT CORDA (As many leaves, so many hearts). The word LVGENT (they mourn) appears in the lower exergual area, completing the funerary emblematic composition.
