Obverse description Elaborately interlaced cursive royal cypher 'CE' (for Carl Eugen) rendered in ornate Baroque style, occupying the central field and surrounded by decorative foliate scrollwork. A ducal crown of detailed workmanship surmounts the monogram at the top. The coin has a plain inner border with reeded edge visible on the periphery. The overall design is finely engraved in high relief, characteristic of mid-18th century South German minting.
