Obverse description Armored bust of Duke Rudolf August facing right, wearing richly decorated pauldrons and a cuirass adorned with pearl-edged borders, his long flowing wig rendered in fine curled detail. The effigy is portrayed in a vigorous baroque style with strong relief. The circular Latin legend is divided on either side of the portrait, reading RVD. AVG. to the left and D. BR. ET. L. to the right. The coin exhibits a distinctive reeded border visible around the entire periphery.
