Obverse description Within a richly ornamented baroque cartouche of scrolling foliate strapwork, the Augsburg pine cone (Zirbelnuss) displayed upright within an oval frame. The Roman numeral date appears above the cartouche in the upper field. The circular legend reads AVGVSTA VINDELICORVM in Latin script, running around the periphery within a beaded border, referencing the city's ancient Roman name.
