Reverse description A large spread Imperial double-headed eagle occupies the central field, displayed with wings outstretched and detailed feather work rendered in the hammered style characteristic of early seventeenth-century German coinage. An orb or escutcheon is placed on the breast of the eagle, and an imperial crown surmounts the heads above. The surrounding circumferential legend, divided by a beaded inner border, reads FERDINAND II D G ROM IM SE AV, identifying the Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand II as sovereign.
