Reverse description A crowned double-headed imperial eagle displayed in the field, its wings spread and feathers rendered in fine detail typical of late Renaissance German die work. On the eagle's breast appears an orb inscribed with the Roman numeral IZ (denoting the half-thaler value), enclosed within a shield. An imperial crown surmounts the eagle's two heads at the top of the design, with the date divided by the crown. The circumscribed Latin legend honoring Emperor Rudolf II runs between the inner beaded border and the outer rim.
