| Obverse description | Helmeted head of Athena facing left, wearing a crested Attic helmet with raised cheek-guards, rendered in archaic Greek style. The facial features are boldly modelled, with the crest of the helmet depicted in pronounced raised relief with fine parallel striations. The bust is truncated at the neck and set within a beaded border, framed by a plain incuse square in the field. The die work displays the characteristic provincial adaptation of Greek iconographic conventions common to Lycian dynastic coinage of the early fourth century BC. |
