Obverse description Griffin sejant to right, with leonine hindquarters, outstretched wings, and open beak, depicted in bold archaic relief upon a plain field. The creature's musculature and feathering are rendered with fine detail characteristic of Abderite coinage of the late 5th to early 4th century BC. A partial beaded border frames the design along the lower portion. The abbreviated ethnic legend ΑΒΔΗ appears in the upper field above the griffin.

Reverse description A dolphin leaping to the left is depicted in high relief at the centre of a recessed square incuse, the characteristic mill-sail or linear square punch associated with Thracian coinage of this period. The magistrate's name is inscribed in Greek letters along the borders of the incuse square, reading EPI NYM-ΦAΓ-OPEΩ, identifying the eponymous magistrate Nymphagoras. A beaded border surrounds the outer edge of the incuse.
