Reverse description Within a shallow incuse square with linear frame, a youthful head of Dionysos facing right, wearing an ivy wreath, rendered in fine relief with delicate facial features typical of the early fourth-century BC Abderite style. The magistrate's name is inscribed in Greek letters arranged around the inner linear frame, divided as ΜΟΛ-ΠΑ-ΓΟΡ-ΕΩ, identifying the issuing eponymous magistrate Molpagores. The incuse square format is characteristic of the coinage of Abdera throughout this period.
