Obverse description Diademed head of Artemis Astyrene facing right, rendered in fine archaic-to-classical style. The hair is elaborately coiffed, drawn back in layered, ridged waves and gathered into a large bun at the nape, secured by a diadem. Earrings are visible at the lobe. The facial features are finely modelled with a softly defined eye, straight nose, and slightly parted lips, reflecting the artistic conventions of the late fifth to early fourth century BC Aeolian tradition.
