Obverse description Facing head of a lion rendered en face in archaic Greek style, the muzzle broad and projecting, with prominent brow ridges and deeply modelled cheeks filling the coin's flan. The mane is indicated by radiating striated locks visible at the crown, while the nose and muzzle are depicted with bold sculptural relief characteristic of early Pontic coinage. No legend or inscription appears in the field. The design is boldly struck, occupying nearly the entire flan.
