Obverse description Bare head of Dionysos facing right, rendered in profile with flowing, wavy hair swept back from the forehead in the early classical Sicilian style. The facial features are finely modeled, with a pronounced brow, straight nose, and slightly parted lips. The hair falls in layered, naturalistic curls behind the ear and along the nape. The field is plain, and the flan is irregularly shaped, characteristic of early Sicilian bronze coinage.
