| Reverse description | Rider on horseback advancing to left in a highly abstracted Celtic style, the horse's body and legs rendered as sweeping curvilinear forms with limited anatomical detail. The symbol Π (pi) appears before the rider in the left field, and a branch motif is visible below the horse in the exergual area. A wheel countermark, the defining feature of this type, is applied on the body of the horse, struck with a separate punch after the coin's original production. The overall composition reflects the progressive celticisation of the Philip II Macedonian reverse prototype. |
