| Obverse description | Diademed and draped bust of Vologases I facing left, wearing a tiara or mural crown decorated with a row of pellets along the rim. The hair is rendered in a characteristic Parthian style with numerous tightly curled locks framing the face, and a long braided or beaded beard falls from the chin. The king wears a torque or beaded necklace at the throat, and his robe is visible at the shoulder. The portrait is bold and deeply struck in the late Parthian artistic tradition, with no surrounding legend on the obverse. |
