| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Vabalathus as emperor facing right, portrayed in the Roman imperial tradition. The effigy displays a laureate crown and paludamentum, presented in profile with Greek legend surrounding the bust in the field. The circumferential inscription reads AYT K OYABAΛΛAΘOC AΘHNO CЄB, identifying the ruler with imperial titulature assimilating him to Roman authority. The coin exhibits the characteristic broad, slightly irregular flan typical of Alexandrian potin tetradrachms of the period. |
