Obverse description Facing right, the bare head of Aphrodite is depicted in fine archaic-influenced style, adorned with a triple-pendant earring and a beaded necklace. A Phrygian helmet is placed in the left field behind her head, serving as an iconographic attribute. The hair is rendered with careful detail, swept back from the face in a manner consistent with late Classical Knidian coinage. The portrait reflects the artistic influence associated with the celebrated cult of Aphrodite at Knidos.
