Reverse description A crab shown in full-face view at center, its carapace rendered with careful anatomical detail, claws extended to either side and eight legs splayed outward — the longstanding civic emblem of Kos. The ethnic legend ΚΩΙΟΝ arches above the crab in Greek characters, while the magistrate's name ΘΕΟΔΟΤΟΣ is inscribed below in a straight line, separated from the crab by a dotted exergual line. The design is crisp and boldly conceived, filling the broad flan with characteristic Koan artistry. The field is plain and unadorned.
