Reverse description Deep square incuse divided into four equal quadrants by a raised cross formed by two perpendicular lines, each compartment bearing a roughly granular or striated surface texture typical of the hammered incuse technique. The incuse square is large and dominates the reverse field, set within the plain flan with no additional legend or device. This mill-sail or quadripartite incuse design is characteristic of early Thracian and northern Aegean silver coinage of the Archaic and Early Classical periods, serving as the functional countermark of the anvil die.
