| Obverse description | Central device of a cista mystica — a wicker basket with a partially open lid — from which a serpent emerges and coils upward to the left. The entire central group is enclosed within a lush ivy wreath, rendered in high relief with prominent clusters of berries and broad leaves arranged symmetrically around the border. The field is flat and unlettered, with all decorative emphasis concentrated on the wreath and the sacred basket, characteristic of the Cistophoric coinage tradition of western Asia Minor. |
