| Obverse description | Griffin seated left upon a tunny fish, rendered in fine archaic style with the right foreleg raised in a heraldic pose; a kantharos is depicted to the lower left in the field. The griffin's wings are displayed with careful engraving detail, and the tunny fish is clearly delineated beneath the creature. The composition fills the broad flan with confident, sculptural relief characteristic of the Abderite mint during the early Classical period. |
