| Obverse description | Diademed portrait bust of Seleukos IV Philopator facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic royal tradition with finely modeled facial features. The king's hair is arranged in naturalistic curls with a royal diadem tied at the back, its ends visible behind the neck. The portrait is struck in high relief with strong characterization typical of Seleucid royal coinage, set within a plain field with no border inscription. The effigy reflects the idealized yet individualized portraiture characteristic of third- and second-century BC Hellenistic numismatic art. |
