Obverse description Diademed portrait bust of Seleukos IV Philopator facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic royal tradition with finely modeled facial features. The king's hair is arranged in naturalistic curls with a royal diadem tied at the back, its ends visible behind the neck. The portrait is struck in high relief with strong characterization typical of Seleucid royal coinage, set within a plain field with no border inscription. The effigy reflects the idealized yet individualized portraiture characteristic of third- and second-century BC Hellenistic numismatic art.
