Reverse description Zeus standing facing in the Hellenistic tradition, his body presented frontally with head slightly turned. He holds an upright sceptre in his left hand while his right arm is extended outward in a gesture of authority or benediction. The figure is rendered in a provincial interpretation of the classical Zeus type, reflecting the syncretic Graeco-Iranian artistic milieu of the Indo-Parthian court. A Kharoshthi legend in two lines encircles the deity, naming the king Gondophares with his full royal titulature. The reverse field shows heavy patination consistent with the billon alloy composition.
