Obverse description Diademed head of the deified Alexander the Great facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed flowing curls. The characteristic small ram's horn of Ammon curls prominently above the ear, signifying Alexander's divine association with Zeus-Ammon. The portrait is executed in the idealised Hellenistic manner, with delicate facial features, a dotted border encircling the flan, and no legend. The die work displays exceptional artistic quality consistent with the Lysimacheia mint at the height of its production.
