Obverse description Diademed portrait bust of Ptolemy I Soter facing right, rendered in the idealized Hellenistic style with voluminous curling hair secured by a royal diadem. The effigy is distinguished by the aegis worn at the neck, a divine attribute linking the king to Zeus and Athena, its scaly surface and serpentine border rendered in fine relief. The portrait exhibits the characteristic strong jaw and aquiline profile established as the dynastic type for Ptolemaic coinage. A dotted border frames the design along the coin's irregular periphery.
