Obverse description Facing right, the head of Herakles portrayed in three-quarter relief, clad in the scalp of the Nemean lion, with the beast's jaws framing the hero's crown and the paws knotted at the throat. The modeling of the facial features is vigorous and naturalistic, in the classical Macedonian tradition established under Alexander III. A border of dots frames the design around the coin's irregular flan.
