Obverse description Youthful, beardless head of Heracles in right profile, wearing the Nemean lion-skin headdress, with the scalp drawn over the crown and the forepaws knotted at the throat. The facial features are rendered in the idealized Lysippan tradition associated with Alexander-type coinage, with finely modeled cheekbones and a slightly open mouth. The lion's mane cascades in deeply engraved folds across the neck and left shoulder, filling the field with bold, sculptural relief. The flan is broad and well-struck, with the portrait occupying the full face of the coin.
