| Obverse description | Laureate head of Zeus facing right, rendered in fine high relief with characteristic mature, bearded visage and flowing wavy hair. The laurel wreath is depicted with carefully engraved leaves encircling the crown of the head. The bold, deeply modelled facial features — including a prominent brow, strong nose, and full beard with curling locks — reflect the accomplished Macedonian die-cutting tradition of the mid-4th century BC. The broad, blank field surrounding the portrait gives prominence to the finely detailed effigy. |
