Obverse description Griffin seated to left in the field, with eagle-like head facing left, prominent folded wings rendered with finely striated feathers, leonine body with forepaws raised, and a serpentine tail curling upward to the right. The creature is depicted in a dynamic, alert posture characteristic of the high classical style favored by Abderite die-cutters. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, with the griffin occupying the majority of the smooth, unbordered field. No legend appears on this face.
