| Obverse description | Griffin seated to left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed feathered wings swept upward and curling over the back. The creature displays an eagle's beaked head turned to face the viewer's left, with a prominent forehead knob. The right forepaw is raised in a characteristically alert pose, while the lion-body haunches rest firmly on the ground and the serpentine tail curls upward behind. The design fills the broad flan with vigorous Archaic-to-Classical style modelling, with no legend on this face. |
