| Obverse description | Idealized diademed head of Mithridates VI Eupator facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic portrait tradition with pronounced individualistic features. The king is depicted with flowing, elaborately curled hair swept back from the forehead and cascading behind the neck, secured by a royal diadem whose ties fall behind the ear. The facial profile displays a strong aquiline nose, a firm chin, and a youthful, heroic bearing reminiscent of Alexandrine portraiture. The high-relief modeling demonstrates exceptional engraving quality characteristic of the Pergamene mint. The field is plain, with no encircling legend on the obverse. |
