| Reverse description | A stag grazing to the left, rendered in fine Hellenistic style, occupies the central field. To the left, a star-in-crescent symbol appears above a monogram in the upper field; to the right, the regnal year BKΣ (year 222 of the Pontic era, corresponding to 75 BC) is inscribed above a second monogram. The month numeral I (month 1) appears in the exergue. The entire design is enclosed within a Dionysiac wreath composed of ivy leaves and fruit, a hallmark of the Mithridatic tetradrachm series. The Greek royal legend BAΣIΛEΩΣ MIΘPAΔATOY EYΠATOPOΣ runs in the fields, identifying the issuer as King Mithridates Eupator. |
