Obverse description Diademed portrait bust of Mithridates VI Eupator facing right, rendered in the idealized Hellenistic royal tradition with vigorously modeled, wild flowing locks swept back from the forehead. The effigy displays finely chiseled facial features — a strong aquiline nose, firm jaw, and smooth, youthful cheeks — characteristic of the portraiture associated with this king's coinage struck at Pergamon. A plain diadem binds the abundant hair, signifying royal authority. The neck is truncated below, and the field is otherwise plain, concentrating full artistic emphasis on the commanding royal portrait.
